WEEKLY SPOTLIGHT ON EMERGING ARTISTS: LAMBROS.
LamBros. have been on repeat since their new EP Drive was released on 30 September 2021. Brothers Connor and Harry Lambrou based in Sydney have a realness and different sound that I have never heard from a band before from the moment that I listened to the title track Drive. The Sydney music scene have been graced with the symphony of blues, funk and rock that the brothers have created. Their debut single 'Do Something' was released back in 2017 and their debut 5 track EP followed soon after titled 'LamBros' which included 'Do Something'. Another single 'Something Else' was released in 2019. In the lead up to the release of their second EP LamBros. released four singles which feature on the Drive EP including Don't Say My Name and Gold in 2020, and in 2021 Mercy and Drive were released.
The title track 'Drive' brings a wave of emotion over from the first beat and it is a song that you will have on repeat for weeks and months to come. There is a maturity in the instrumentals that set these musicians apart for good reason as their realness and authenticity is in every beat. The lyrics are effortlessly guiding you along the road towards where the future is and as you drive along you know that this special person in your life means everything and you are free, able to fly and are the light in the storm.
Second track 'Ocean Blue Eyes' draws you in with the blues vibe from the start and will keep you feeling the beat until the chorus when it crescendos to a funk groove. This song delves into waves of the ocean that you melting inside when you look into those blue eyes of that special someone.
Mercy is the third track and it will have you saying 'you left your mark' because the LamBros. have created music that will have you coming back time and time again to listen the insane instrumentals and incredible vocals of the brothers. This song is different to the other tracks on the EP in terms of sound and rhythm but it still has the guitar riffs and drumming patterns that listeners are in awe of which is characteristic with any LamBros. songs.
Gold is the fourth track and has tender vocals and guitar riffs to deliver the most heartfelt song on the EP that shows a deeper side to LamBros. that the audience may not have heard before in previous releases. The vocals are on another level and audiences will be holding onto every word in this song as if it is sheet of gold. The lyrics are the rawest and most intense in a breathtaking way and listeners will be definitely moved seeing this song performed live.
Fifth track Fire's Gone has an acoustic and blues vibe that has falsetto vocals that showcase the insane vocal talent. This is contrasted in the bridge with an edge rock instrumental including guitar solo with echoing vocals that is different to the other tracks on the EP. This track performed live would be an incredible experience as the energy would encapsulate the room in a way that no other song could.
The final track off the EP is Don't Say My Name but this song will definitely have you saying LamBros. because the talent and edgy sound from the start and the audience at a gig will definitely be clapping along. The chorus echoes the lyrics 'don't say my name' in a blues vibe but in contrast the bridge takes the song in a different direction where the sound is rock. The guitar riffs in this song are the best on the EP with the rock instrumentals bring together the song in an unexpected way.
