WEEKLY SPOTLIGHT ON EMERGRING ARTISTS: THE APPOINTMENTS

There is a band that I had the pleasure of listening to whilst being a volunteer judge for The University of Newcastle's (UON) 2021 Band Competition in May this year. Their soon to be released single 'Sweet Life' is still an earworm that will make you want to dance and embrace those moments of life that truly are sweet. I introduce to you The Appointments from Newcastle/Awabakal country, deserved runners up for 2021's UON Band Comp, and a band who's music you will want to listen to on repeat. This four-piece features the vocals and guitar of Rhys Love, on drums and vocals Eli Love, Kurt Speirs on bass, and Duncan Brown on percussion.

The band has a unique chemistry on stage that has be witnessed live to appreciate the way that each member contributes to their funky and soulful sound fusion of reggae, rock, soul, and roots. Already releasing singles 'You're Welcome' (2019) and 'My Mind's Eye' (2020), fans of The Appointments can look forward to their forthcoming debut E.P. Atop the Roots charts of Triple J Unearthed, The Appointments have shown their emerging talent and ability to write, record and mix songs in their Merewether share house that will draw people in to admire their hard work and passion dedicated over many years.
